Afro-American Historical Association of Fauquier County
Headquartered in The Plains, AAHA is open to the general public, schools
and other organizations interested in local history and tracing their family and
community records. AAHA offers a resource center, a museum, a reference
library, an auditorium and genealogical library.

Fauquier Heritage and Preservation Foundation
With over 600 members, the foundation strives to discover, procure and preserve
whatever may relate to the history of Fauquier County, Virginia and to the
genealogy of Fauquier County families; and to educate and disseminate this
knowledge to local residents, students and to the general public.

Fauquier Historical Society
The Fauquier Historical Society has over 300 members dedicated to preserving
Fauquier County's rich history. The organization provides historic markers,
educational programs, and information to guide visitors during their stay in
Warrenton; including a walking tour of the Town of Warrenton's historic district.

The Mosby Heritage Area Association
The mission of The Mosby Heritage Area Association is to educate, and
advocate for the preservation of the extraordinary historic, cultural and scenic
resources in the Northern Virginia Piedmont. The area is named for the famed
Confederate Cavalry officer John S. Mosby whose rangers fought throughout
the region during the Civil War. The Mosby Heritage Area encompasses the
counties of Loudoun, Fauquier, Clarke, Warren and part of Prince William, some
1,800 square miles. During the Civil War it was known as Mosby's Confederacy.

The Partnership for Warrenton
The Partnership is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the economic
and aesthetic development of Old Town Warrenton through a comprehensive
process of economic revitalization that seeks to protect, enhance and promote
its architectural and historical heritage.

Virginia Gold Cup
The Gold Cup Races are grand spring & fall traditions, as well as fixtures on
the
social calendar. Run in Fauquier County since 1922 and attended by over
45,000 spectators, this race is one of the largest and most popular sporting
events in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Race day features seven
hurdle and timber horses races, Jack Russell Terrier races, tent, tailgate and hat
contests, a parachute demonstration, and over 30 vendor booths for shopping.

Weston Farmstead
Weston, an early-American treasure, is one of Fauquier County’s most
completely preserved nineteenth-century farmsteads. The old house and its
outbuildings are surrounded by giant oaks,
sweeping lawns, woodlands and
cornfields.
Tours can be arranged by appointment. Weston is maintained by
the Warrenton Antiquarian Society.
